Give Them Something Good On Galentine’s Day

Valentine's Day, roses, chocolate . . . all of that is really nice, but this year, we're looking ahead to a little something called Galentine's Day, a fictional holiday devoted to celebrating the love between female friends. And it's a long overdue one in our opinion here at Mission Viejo Florist. The idea came about from a 2010 episode of Parks and Recreation, which had main character Leslie Knope taking all her girls out for a long lunch to celebrate their love for each other and to exchange gifts. At one point Knope declares it "the best day of the year," a sentiment that captured the public's imagination and made Galentine's Day a potential reality for women. The Prettiest Gift You Can Give All Year Long

One of the best resolutions you can make for yourself at the New Year is to practice a little more self-love for the next 365. We here at Mission Viejo Florist aren't talking about renewing your gym membership or tackling a new diet; instead, we're suggesting you treat yourself to more of whatever makes you happy - spa days, travel, time with friends. We also think you should invest in items for yourself and your home that support health and well being. One of those things, in our humble opinion, is flowers. How Flowers Can Help Us Heal

Flowers have long been known to have healing properties. For centuries they've been used medicinally, and some consider flower essence itself to have profound effects on the mind and body. Today, science tells us that we aren't wrong. A 2008 study showed that hospitalized patients who had flowers or a potted plant in their room actually used less pain medication and had lower blood pressure than those who had rooms without any fresh blooms or plants. Research shows that those who exchange flowers tend to have better relationships with friends and family, which in turn promotes well being. At Mission Viejo Florist, we maintain a collection of flowers that we think are ideal arrangements for every get well scenario. Read More about How Flowers Can Help Us Heal »

Falling For Winter’s Whites

There's no better time to bring flowers into the home than winter, when the days are short and the nights long. They're the perfect antidote to the cooler, bleaker landscape outside, and given all of their proven benefits (mental clarity and outlook first and foremost), they're a simple addition you can make to your decor without a lot of fuss. And if you know someone who needs some cheering up, they'll do the trick there, too. At Mission Viejo Florist, we're loving winter's whites, which are inspired by more wintry climes than ours, but make us think of tranquil walks in the snowy woods. Holiday Office Decor That Dazzles

We're all familiar with the standard scheme for holiday office decor. Poinsettias poised around the doorway, evergreen wreaths hanging out front. And if we're lucky, a full-on Christmas tree we decorate year after year, set up well before the holiday office party. At Mission Viejo Florist, we embrace every effort to bring some seasonal cheer to the workplace (or any place, for that matter). And there's something wonderful about the classic floral decor we return to again and again to brighten up where we work and - let's face it - spend much of our time. But we also love introducing a fresh take on decorating the office for the holidays. Read More about Holiday Office Decor That Dazzles »

Bright Cornucopias for Thanksgiving

What's your favorite part of Thanksgiving? The food? Family? Football? Flowers? Maybe you didn't say that last one, but in our view here at Mission Viejo Florist, you should. Thanksgiving is a holiday rich with tradition. We gather family and friends together to count our blessings and share our gratitude for the gifts we've received all year. It's a time of warmth and comfort, hearth and home. Flowers, we think, speak to that spirit. And the floral landscape in Fall is too pretty for words.
