Why You Should Send Flowers to a New Mom
After anxiously awaiting the arrival of their precious bundle of joy for nine months, the arrival of a new baby is a highly emotional and joyous experience for a new mom. Flowers are the perfect accompaniment to a celebration so momentous with bright colors and beautiful blooms that bring warmth and happiness. Not to mention, for those mothers who may be overwhelmed by the whole experience, flowers can help promote feelings of calm and relaxation and let her know “she’s got this!”
Best Types of Flowers for a New Mom
If the sex of the baby is unknown, or traditional gender roles and colors are something the new family is not into, then choose a bouquet with a neutral color palette in shades of lovely creams, yellows, whites, and mixed pastels.
If you know the sex of the baby, then go ahead and celebrate with traditional colors for each sex. For a baby girl, pink, purple, white, and pastels are good options. Look for florals such as roses, lilies, tulips, and carnations in these colors. For a baby boy, yellows and blues are popular. Flowers such as delphinium, freesia, and statice are good choices.
A thoughtful touch would be to also include the mother’s favorite flowers in the bouquet. If she loves dahlias, daisies, or peonies, speak with your local florist to include them in the bouquet. The mother will feel very touched by an arrangement that includes florals that represent her and her new baby.
When to Send Flowers to a New Mom
Since you are likely not to know the exact delivery date, once you do hear about the new arrival, contact your local florist regarding sending same-day or next-day arrangements. For tips on sending flowers to the hospital, read more here.
You also have the option of sending flowers to the home of the new parents, so they have less to carry with them on the ride home. What’s great about sending flowers for a new addition to the family is you can still do it long after the day of the event. Sending flowers 1, 2, or even 3 weeks after the birth of a baby is still very much appreciated and beloved by the parents.
Our standard Baby Boy and Baby Girl floral bouquets shout “Welcome to the World!”. The Baby Girl Surprise arrangement features pink Stargazer lilies, pink roses, pink gerbera daisies, white larkspur, and two shades of pink California-grown carnations among various greenery and pink wax. The Baby Boy Surprise is a vibrant collection of yellow hybrid lilies, roses, daisies, and California-grown carnations. The dark blue delphinium and white daisies make the whole arrangement “POP.” Both arrangements come with a Teddy Bear and a mylar balloon to announce the new arrival.
Tip: If there are siblings, include an additional mylar balloon attached to a beanie baby. This is a great way to include them in the fun and celebration when so much attention is on the new arrival.
Flowers to celebrate the birth of a baby do not have to be the traditional pink for girls and blue for boys. With such an abundance of colors and types of flowers, one of the designers at Mission Viejo Florist would be thrilled to design a custom and unique arrangement announcing the new arrival. Let us help you congratulate the whole family with a beautiful bouquet of stunning florals.
