Valentine’s Day, roses, chocolate . . . all of that is really nice, but this year, we’re looking ahead to a little something called Galentine’s Day, a fictional holiday devoted to celebrating the love between female friends. And it’s a long overdue one in our opinion here at Mission Viejo Florist.
The idea came about from a 2010 episode of Parks and Recreation, which had main character Leslie Knope taking all her girls out for a long lunch to celebrate their love for each other and to exchange gifts. At one point Knope declares it “the best day of the year,” a sentiment that captured the public’s imagination and made Galentine’s Day a potential reality for women.
Sure, your friends may receive long-stemmed roses and chocolate on Valentine’s Day, but there’s going to be nothing like the flowers you send them in honor of your friendship. This is because you probably know them better than any partner or romantic suitor might – or at least you’ll know what to get, flower-wise. Take our Succulent Tulips for inspiration, though.
This is an intriguing mix of succulents with tulips and hydrangea, wrapped in moss and mixed with other earthy, organic elements. It’s such a cool, distinctive piece, which is exactly the sort of message you want to communicate with your bestie. Have this sent to her office and she’ll be the first one with flowers on her desk. She’ll also feel the friend-love without question.
