Mission Viejo – National Floral Design Day

floral design dayThe genesis of a great piece of art is best described as a labor of love. If you speak to any artist about their passion, about what keeps them going back to the creative process – it is nothing short of the love of creating something beautiful or meaningful. Just as various colors and textures are proficient in the creation of paintings; and metal, stone or wood are perfect for the sculptor; floral designers have their own preferred medium. At Mission Viejo Florist, our passion, of course, is flowers – and utilizing this most beautiful of mediums to design floral arrangement masterpieces.

The use of diverse blooms will result in an arrangement which exhibits a unique look that is never truly duplicated – floral bouquets created by floral designers can be one of a kind. Each one is designed with the colors, blossoms and accents available to the artist at the time. Even working within the artistic constraints of composition, balance and line, the effect is truly inspirational.

One of the true pioneers in the contemporary floral industry was a man named Carl Rittners. He was not only a legendary floral artist, but he also established the Rittners School of Floral Design in Boston. His desire to educate people to see flowers as a discipline of art, design and composition was well received – for over 6 decades, the school has educated thousands of the top designers in the country. In honor of Rittners’ contributions to the industry, in 1995 the governor of Massachusetts declared February 28th to be National Floral Design Day.
