April Daisies for Bouquets and Arrangements

The daisy is one of the most amazing plants in the world, although it exudes an innocent and carefree facade. The childhood flower of "she loves me, she loves me not" holds many secrets and interesting qualities, all of which we celebrate this month. The official flower of April birthdays is bright, cheerful, encouraging, and even useful - this month, send an armload of the amazing daisy to your friends and loved ones who are celebrating! Time for Lunch? The daisy comes from an extensive family that includes lettuce and artichoke - and the daisy itself is also completely edible. It is also related to echinacea and chamomile, and when brewed as a tea, it is able to calm a cough and ease gastric issues. Read More about April Daisies for Bouquets and Arrangements »

Celebration Highlights Need for Puppy Adoption

Almost 50% of U.S. households have dogs, which equates to about 80 million happy canines living with families. Still, on National Puppy Day, animal advocates look to highlight the issues facing dogs and puppies - namely irresponsible breeding, breeding for profit, overcrowded shelters, and far too many euthanizations. With only an estimated 10% of dogs labeled "behavior problems", these puppies face uncertain fates through no fault of their own. This day is set aside to celebrate the love that puppies bring to our lives while bringing awareness and educating the public. At Mission Viejo Florist, we recognize the unsung heroes, often volunteers, working to save the lives of these animals every day.  Read More about Celebration Highlights Need for Puppy Adoption »

Wearing of the Green on St. Patrick’s Day

March 17th is St. Patrick's Day - a celebration when everyone is Irish, regardless of their own heritage! After all, even St. Patrick himself wasn't Irish, meaning that this is a day we can all embrace. From the wearing of the green to the local parade, there are many ways we love to observe this holiday - and Mission Viejo Florist is ready with the uniquely beautiful green flowers you'll need to dress up your home or office for the occasion! Did You Know? Patrick was born in Great Britain, and his given name is Maewyn Succat. When just a young man, Maewyn was kidnapped by pirates and held captive in Ireland. Upon his release, he became a Catholic priest, changed his name, and acted as a missionary to the Emerald Isle. He was so beloved in his adopted home that when he died, they named the day in his honor.  Read More about Wearing of the Green on St. Patrick’s Day »
