September Asters

Sending birthday flowers is always a meaningful way to commemorate someone special. Whether you choose a bouquet of their favorite flowers, or a lavish arrangement featuring their favorite color – there are many ways to celebrate your loved one. Here at Mission Viejo Florist, we create many gorgeous birthday designs for you to choose from – and each month, there are two inspirations we draw from.

Every month has a birth flower and a birthstone – and this month, the aster and the sapphire are in the spotlight. Both give us many options to choose from during the month.

The aster is a perennial flower which resemble the daisy. Asters are hardy and long lasting, and make beautiful cut flowers bouquets. As they bloom in late summer and early fall, they are perfect for this time of year, and can even be found in shades of sapphire blues and purples.

The sapphire is a remarkable gemstone which is one of the most treasured in the world. Although the vibrant blue color is the most iconic, sapphires can occur in many colors across the spectrum. Sapphire inspired floral arrangements are strikingly beautiful, utilizing blue flowers not often seen in every day designs.

September astersBlue hydrangea, blue delphinium and blue orchids are three of the most popular flowers in the shade. When creating sapphire-inspired birthday bouquets, you can also choose to utilize a blue vase, or add blue “gemstones ” to the arrangement, as seen above.

Did You Know? Although the sapphire comes in many colors, you won’t find a red sapphire – because that is known as a ruby. They are, however, both comprised of the mineral corundum.

Birthdays are special, and the flowers sent to celebrate them should be as well. Whether you choose a unique blue floral arrangement, a big bouquet of asters, or a design of your own choosing, you can’t go wrong by ordering from Mission Viejo Florist.
